Sunday Night Series: The Life and Mission of JesusJoin us on Sunday nights at 5:00 pm in the Lab for our next worship emphasis. In this series we will dig deeper into the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. We will closely examine Scripture, but will also look at historical sources from a variety of perspectives. We are also adding a focus on the Sermon on the Mount - Matthew: 5,6,7. We are inviting people to explore this text over the course of the next eleven weeks or pieces of this text through paint, pencil, writing, dance, music, drama, you name it! Each week we will interpret and experience the text through one of these means. Please email Todd if you have an idea or questions about this project. Some money is available for materials. July 6 - Dinner and Communion Discussion around the table - sharing about people who have influenced us who are no longer with us. July 13 - What Were the Main Themes of Jesus' Teaching? (Mark 12: 29-30) In his three years of public ministry, what were the primary topics he addressed in his teachings and actions? July 20 - Jesus' Birth and Early Years (Luke 1-2) For thousands of years, the Jewish people watched and waited for God to fully step into human history. The birth of Jesus signaled this event, and is the ultimate act of God identifying with His people. July 27 - Jesus' Baptism (Matthew 1) Baptism is one of the most significant events in the life of a Christ follower. We will look at Jesus' baptism and talk about the purpose and significance of baptism for us today.
What Are Worship Gatherings?
At 5:00 pm on Sunday nights we meet in the lab for worship, prayer and Bible study. As we form this new community of faith we believe it is important to take time to ask deep questions and listen for answers. Questions as fundamental as "why gather together for worship at all?" and "what does it mean to worship God in the first place?"
This group on Sunday nights is designed for people who would like to be intentional about their faith and about the formation of the Convergence community on a larger scale. All are welcome to join us for this open discussion and prayer time. In addition to the format people are encouraged to participate by bringing songs, poems, drama, drawings, etc to share or create with the group. Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided. We are meeting in the lab (the building across from the sanctuary building). This is a more intimate space which will allow us more flexibility in worship as well as the opportunity to grow. Directions
